Disability
Definition: The term "disability" describes significant and long term impairment that makes it difficult for someone to carry out day to day activities.
The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) defines a disabled person as someone who has a physical and/or mental impairment that has a substantial and long term (at least 12 months) effect on their ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities. The categories of activities are mobility, manual dexterity, speach, hearing, sight and memory. People with chronic ill health, mental health problems, learning disability, visual or hearing disability, and physically disabled people can be included in this definition of disability.
