Acquired Brain Injury
Definition: Damage to the brain, sudden in onset, and occuring after birth
Acquired brain injury is damage to the brain which is sudden in onset, and occurs after birth. The most common type is traumatic brain injury caused by road traffic accidents, assaults, falls, and sports/industrial accidents. Other causes include strokes, lack of oxygen to the brain, and some types of infection.
