Supported housing services for people with sensory impairments in Scotland

Sensory disability is a sight or hearing impairment that has a substantial and long term effect on their ability to carry out day-to-day activities. Sensory impairment principally covers: deaf, deafened and hearing impaired people blind and visually impaired people deafblind people There are a limited number of specialist housing support services for people with a sensory disability, the majority providing floating support which focuses on a person's communication needs. Currently only 4 supported accommodation services specifically for sensory impaired people exist in Scotland. People with sensory disability can receive generic housing support (and care) in their homes should they require it. Other services that may be of assistance are Care & Repair and Community Alarm Services.
